Common Questions:

Do you need travel insurance?

While not required, we highly recommend travel insurance. Our travel insurance partner is World Nomads.

Can I arrive early or leave later?

We have a lot of participants arrive to Costa Rice before our experience begins. Some folks opt to extend their stay as well.

Where do we stay?

We don’t mess around with accommodations. You’ll be staying in a luxury beach house located in Langosta / Tamarindo. It’s just a quick few minutes' walk from the hustle and bustle of town. Watch the surf break from the edge of the infinity pool while you sip your favorite drink.

Do I need a passport?

Yes. 100%

Are there any Covid-19 restrictions in Costa Rica?

Beginning April 1, Costa Rica will no longer require travelers to complete an online Health Pass and unvaccinated visitors will no longer be required to purchase a travel insurance policy.

What if I fly into San Jose?

You'll be responsible for transportation to and from our accommodations. We've had travelers do this in the past. San Jose is approximately 4.5 hours from our place in Tamarindo.

Will I have access to WiFi?

Yes. Our accommodations have WiFi. Don't expect fiber-optic speeds though.

What's the food situation?

3 breakfasts and 3 dinners are provided. There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores near us in Tamarindo.

Can I drink the water in Costa Rica?

While it is safe to drink the water in most places in Costa Rica, we recommend bottled water.

Trip Itinerary
Day 1
Drive to Tamarindo

We’ll pick you up from Liberia International Airport and drive a short hour to Tamarindo where you’ll get to settle into our sweet digs. Catch an epic sunset as you relax poolside with a Cerveza.

Bucket List-ish
Day 2
Do Good + Waterfall Hike

We’ll spend the morning with the kids at Credciendo Juntos. Afterward, you’ll get to hang splash and float at our favorite waterfall in Costa Rica.

Es muy bien!
Day 3
Leatherbacks & Beach Day

We’ll kick the day off volunteering with the Leatherback Trust Foundation. If you’re lucky, you may get to see a leatherback. No guarantees. The rest of the day is spent beach-ing it up and relaxing.

Day 4
Surf's Up 🤙

Make all your friends who didn’t come with you jealous! Tamarindo is one of the best places to learn to surf in the world. We’re at a 98% success rate with folks actually surfing. End the evening with a group dinner and a night out on the town!

Can I give 10 stars?! I just had the fortune of traveling to Costa Rica with Have Fun Do Good and can’t rave about my experience enough. From start to finish, it was perfection. The element of giving back to the kids and sea turtles was incredibly rewarding.

I decided to break out of my comfort zone and book a trip to Costa Rica with HFDG. It was hands down, one of the best decisions I've ever made. The people, the projects, and even the place we stayed exceeded expectations. It's fair to say they passed with flying colors. 12/10 recommend.

I just returned from HFDG Costa Rica and I can't say enough positive things about the experience. The house we stayed at in Tamarindo was amazing. This was a very unique way to travel, and I'm looking forward to joining the Have Fun Do Good crew on another trip soon.
